The following figure takes the conveyor belt application as an example to describe the simplified working principle of the metal detector. Although the form of the metal detector sensor will be different from the figure below, its working principle is the same.

The metal detector generates an electromagnetic field.

When metal impurities enter the electromagnetic field, the measurement signal will deflect in one direction.

When the metal impurities leave the electromagnetic field, the measurement signal will deflect in another direction.

When two alarm signals are triggered, the alarm signal will be generated when both of them exceed the set value.

Metal detector will output a variety of signals for users according to their requirements. Generally, a set of passive normally open and normally closed contacts will be provided.

Sensor installation

Open the upper and lower parts of the sensor, install the bottom of the sensor to the bottom of the belt, fix it firmly, and then assemble the sensor (Fig. 4).

Open one end of the sensor, put the C-type sensor through the belt, and then fix the other end (Fig. 5). (Note: after the bracket of the detachable end of the sensor is folded, the detachable end shall not be subjected to lateral force and downward force, so as to prevent the deformation of the sensor and affect the detection effect of the detector.)
